Irvine Approves New Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship

July 26, 20262 min read

The Irvine City Council unanimously approved a lease agreement on July 14, 2026, for a 25,000-square-foot Center of Innovation & Entrepreneurship, a new hub meant to help local startups and small businesses start, grow, and scale.

Irvine has long branded itself a hub for tech and business, this is the city putting real square footage behind that reputation.

What is the Center of Innovation & Entrepreneurship?

The new center will occupy a 25,000-square-foot facility at 510 Technology Drive, Suite 100, on a site owned by the Irvine Company, according to the City of Irvine. It's designed as a central hub for business resources, entrepreneurial support services, and access to capital for companies at every stage, from idea to scale-up.

The city has already lined up several operating partners to run programs out of the space: the Orange County/Inland Empire Small Business Development Center will handle primary intake and referrals, the Greater Irvine Chamber of Commerce will lead outreach, and ALC will provide financial guidance and help with capital procurement.

Why this matters if you live or work in Irvine

Irvine already draws a disproportionate share of Orange County's tech and biotech companies, largely thanks to UCI and the concentration of corporate campuses around the Irvine Spectrum and Irvine Business Complex. A dedicated, centrally located resource hub adds real infrastructure to that ecosystem, the kind of thing that helps keep growing companies (and the jobs that come with them) in Irvine rather than relocating elsewhere.

For homeowners, more local jobs and a stronger small-business base tend to support long-term property values and neighborhood vitality. It's also one more data point in Irvine's ongoing case for being one of the most business-friendly cities in the county.

When does it open?

The City Council's July 14 vote approved the lease agreement, the next steps are build-out and opening the center to the public. An official opening date hasn't been announced yet.
