The Spectrum SunWheel stands 131 feet tall, 23 feet taller than the wheel it replaces, according to the Irvine Standard. It was handcrafted in Casale di Scodosia, Italy, the same region known for specialized amusement ride manufacturing that built the original.
The new wheel adds enhanced LED lighting on the spokes, capable of thousands of patterns and holiday light shows, plus built-in speakers inside each gondola. It also has three additional gondolas and increased rider capacity, with the goal of cutting down wait times during busy weekends.
